Sue Butterworth
LCCH, Licensed Member of the Society of Homeopaths

My interest in homeopathy began after the birth of my first child. I was 6 months pregnant with my second child and yet my daughter was still waking on average 5 times a night and had not slept through the night once! Recognising my total exhaustion a friend suggested that I take my daughter to a homeopath. I knew nothing about homeopathy but was willing to try just about anything. The results were fantastic and over the course of a couple of months we finally all got some sleep. Soon after, my son was born. At 10 days old he was admitted to hospital with meningitis and encephalitis. Thankfully a combination of wonderful medical care and allopathic drugs got him through this. A couple of months later he was still left with a droopy eye and a very upset digestive system from all the drugs that he had needed. My thoughts turned to homeopathy which once again proved invaluable. His eye regained its strength and his digestive system completely recovered. I decided that I wanted to study homeopathy in detail and chose The Contemporary College of Homeopathy.

I graduated in July 2002 after successfully completing a 4 year course in Homeopathy, Anatomy& Physiology and Pathology & Disease. The final year of the course included supervised student clinics at the College, the completion of 100 hours sitting in with a qualified homeopath and the submission of 10 supervised case studies. Immediately after qualifying I joined the Natural Health Centre in Newbury. I recently spent some time living in the US as part of my husband’s job and am now delighted to be joining the team at Fairoak Sports Therapy.

Homeopathy can be used in the treatment of a multitude of complaints arising on physical, mental and emotional levels. Whilst I have treated a wide variety of conditions and people from all walks of life, my practice naturally seems to gravitate to the treatment of women and their children. I have particular experience in helping manage the menopause and other hormonal symptoms naturally, the treatment of depression and anxiety and common childhood complaints such as eczema, ADH and the terrible twos!

Personal experience with my children has led to my belief that homeopathy, other complimentary therapies and allopathic medicine all have an important role to play in managing our health and each has a time and place for its use. I am very happy to liaise with other health practitioners and therapists in order to achieve my goal of truly holistic healthcare.
